Walter Hollander has carried that legacy forward through his own award-winning work, earning recognition as Arizona Foothills Magazine’s Best Local Male Jewelry Designer in both 2019 and 2021.

Established 1984

Our showroom is located at 4151 N Marshall Way, Scottsdale, AZ 85251, in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. Jewelry Repair Services Offered at Cornelis Hollander

Whether your jewelry needs a simple adjustment or a complete restoration, our experienced artisans provide a full range of fine jewelry repair services. Every repair is completed with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into the custom pieces we create.

If you don’t see the specific repair you need listed below, we’d be happy to evaluate your piece and recommend the best solution.

Ring Resizing

Whether your ring is too large or too small, we professionally resize engagement rings, wedding bands, fashion rings, and other fine jewelry. Resizing is performed in-house to preserve the integrity, comfort, and appearance of your original piece.

Prong Repair & Re-Tipping

Worn, bent, or broken prongs can put your diamonds and gemstones at risk. We inspect, re-tip, and rebuild prongs to securely hold your stones and restore the structural integrity of your setting.

Stone Tightening & Replacement

A loose diamond or gemstone should be addressed promptly. We tighten loose stones and replace missing or damaged diamonds and gemstones, carefully sourcing replacements that match the original stone in size, cut, color, quality, and overall appearance whenever possible.

Polishing & Rhodium Plating

Restore the brilliance of your jewelry with professional polishing that removes signs of everyday wear and helps bring back its original shine. We also offer rhodium plating for white gold jewelry to renew its bright, reflective appearance.

Chain & Clasp Repair

Broken necklace chains, damaged bracelet links, and worn or faulty clasps can often be repaired. We address broken links, weakened solder joints, damaged components, and clasp mechanisms across a variety of fine jewelry metals.

Soldering & Structural Repair

Cracked bands, broken settings, weakened joints, and worn areas can compromise the strength of your jewelry. Our artisans repair and reinforce damaged metalwork, rebuild worn sections when needed, and restore the structural integrity of your piece.

Earring Repair

Whether you need a replacement post, new earring backs, repairs to damaged earrings, or a single earring recreated to match its original pair, our artisans can help restore your earrings to wearable condition.

Heirloom Restoration

Family heirloom jewelry deserves thoughtful care. We restore antique, vintage, and inherited pieces while preserving the character, craftsmanship, and history that make each one unique. When a piece requires more than a traditional repair, our team can also discuss custom restoration or redesign options.

Jewelry Cleaning & Inspection

We offer professional jewelry cleaning and complimentary inspections to help keep your pieces in excellent condition. We recommend having frequently worn jewelry inspected every six to twelve months so potential issues can be identified before they become more extensive repairs.

Don’t See the Repair You Need?

The services listed above represent some of our most common jewelry repairs, but they’re far from everything we do. Because we design and handcraft fine jewelry in-house, we’re often able to repair, restore, or rebuild pieces that require more specialized craftsmanship.
If you’re unsure whether your jewelry can be repaired—or don’t see the service you’re looking for—we’d be happy to examine your piece, answer your questions, and recommend the best solution. We invite you to stop by our showroom or contact us to schedule an evaluation.

What Our Artisans Look for During a Jewelry Inspection

Fine jewelry often shows signs of wear before a failure occurs. During an inspection, our artisans look beyond the immediate concern to evaluate how the entire piece is wearing—from the security of its stones to the condition of its metalwork and connecting components.

Stone Security

A diamond or gemstone that shifts, rattles, or appears uneven may indicate that a prong, bezel, or setting has weakened. Addressing that movement early can often prevent the stone from becoming lost.

Prongs and Settings

Prongs gradually thin, flatten, bend, or pull away with regular wear. We examine each point of contact surrounding your stones and identify areas that may need tightening, re-tipping, straightening, or rebuilding.

Metalwork and Structure

Bent ring shanks, hairline cracks, weakened solder joints, and thinning metal can place stress on the entire piece. We evaluate the structure as a whole, so the recommended repair addresses both the visible issue and any underlying weakness.

Chains, Clasps, and Connections

A clasp that no longer closes securely or a chain link that has begun to stretch can put a necklace or bracelet at risk. We also inspect posts, hinges, jump rings, and other connecting components for signs of wear.

What to Expect When You Bring in a Repair

Our jewelry repair process is straightforward, transparent, and designed to give you a clear understanding of your options before any work begins.

Evaluation and Converstation

Schedule an appointment or stop by our Old Town Scottsdale showroom based on availability. We’ll examine your jewelry, listen to your concerns, and ask about anything you’ve noticed while wearing the piece.

Recommendations and Approval

Our artisans will explain what they found, which repairs they recommend, and the expected pricing and timeline. When more than one solution is possible, we’ll help you understand the differences. No work begins without your approval.

Repair and Final Review

Once approved, your fine jewelry is repaired in our Scottsdale studio and carefully reviewed before it is returned to you. When appropriate, the piece may also be cleaned and polished to refresh its appearance.

Customer Testimonials: Read What Our Customers Say…

Robert B ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“This is the place to go for all your jewelry questions and repairs. My wife’s engagement ring needed to be resized and they did an amazing job. Walter and his staff have service that sets the bar of excellence. Thank you!”

Nancy B ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“…Walter repaired a beautiful ring that is a treasured heirloom, adjusted the sizing on another ring, and updated appraisals on a number of my jewelry pieces.… I feel confident I can trust them to assist with all my future jewelry needs!”

Marilyn C ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I have not been able to wear my wedding ring or engagement ring for many years. Both were too big. I had gone to another jeweler first for my wedding ring and they said they could not fix it. After Hollander’s did a great job fixing my wedding ring, I decided to get another setting for my engagement ring. Even my husband commented on how nice it looks. So much nicer than the original setting.”

Greta S ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“Huge shoutout for rescuing my engagement ring from its midlife crisis! They replaced the missing diamond (it apparently needed a vacation), resized the band so it no longer strangles my finger, and made it way more comfortable to wear. It fits perfectly now and sparkles like it just got back from a spa. Super friendly service and real pros—highly recommend them if your jewelry needs a little TLC (or therapy)!”
