In the northern hemisphere, the spring equinox falls on March 20 at 11:33 A.M. EDT. More simply known as the first day of spring, this event happens when the sun crosses the equator line, heading north. The equinoxes – autumnal and vernal (spring) – are the only time when the length of day and night is nearly equal in both hemispheres. After Sunday, March 20, you’ll notice increasing daylight hours and warming temperatures.
